Welcome to the BBA's Green Business Initiative
Our Mission:
The mission of the Green Business is to promote the interest of businesses that are committed and engaged in environmentally responsible operations and practices, also known as “green” business practices.
Pledge:
Investors of the Green Business Initiative pledge to continually strive toward environmentally safe and sustainable business practices and operations to ensure that the greater Birmingham region is environmentally healthy and viable. Investors also pledge to meet all existing federal, state and local environment regulations.
Goals:
- To market our investors who are proactively engaging in green business practices and operations
- To increase awareness of the economic growth opportunities related to the emerging green economy
- To connect existing green-focused organizations with other businesses to promote best practices with sustainable business models
Investors Benefits:
- Qualifying investors will be recognized as committed to a greener greater Birmingham region through their business operations.
- Qualifying investors will have access to the BBA Green Business logo for print and electronic use.
- Qualifying members will receive a “Birmingham Business Alliance Green Business” window cling for display at their place of business.
Investor minimum requirements:
- All applicants must be current investors of the Birmingham Business Alliance
- All applicants must complete the application and submit for qualification.
- Business investors representing 100 or more employees must meet at least one “green practice” in each and all of the six categories (Waste Prevention, Recycling, Purchasing, Energy Conservation, Water Conservation and Transportation) with a minimum total of 20 points.
- Investors representing 99 or fewer employees must meet at least one “green practice” in four of the six categories (Waste Prevention, Recycling, Purchasing, Energy Conservation, Water Conservation and Transportation) with a minimum total of 15 points.
- Investors must re-apply every two years to maintain qualification as a Green Business investor.
