The Regional Existing Business Consortium (REBC)

The Regional Existing Business Consortium (REBC) focuses on business retention and expansion. The REBC is a regional affiliation of Economic Development organizations and professionals. These organizations work closely with the BBA and partner with utilities, government offices, and non-profit organizations to retain and expand businesses and industries throughout the area.

REBC members sit down one-on-one with business owners to gauge the pulse of the business community. The purpose of the visit is multifaceted with an emphasis of identifying specific issues that are impacting operations, profitability and viability. Additionally, data gathered during the survey is used on a macro level to determine regional trends that will aid in the formulation of programs to address workforce development, legislative priorities, and ongoing strategies to improve the region’s business climate.

To arrange a visit from a member of the REBC, please contact the BBA's Vice President, Retention Jim Searcy, or fill out our Business Information Form.

REBC Mission

The REBC mission is to retain and expand businesses in the Birmingham region. Our team of economic development experts is trained to visit with business owners to identify thematic issues across industries, inform business owners of business development opportunities and to help identify solutions for business challenges. We believe that 60,000+ existing businesses are a significant portion of our region's economic portfolio. Simply put, the organizations and individuals that comprise the REBC manage our portion of that portfolio by identifying companies that may have the greatest influence on our tax base, number of jobs and overall economic impact.

REBC Visits

REBC members regularly visit with businesses to discuss issues, help find solutions, and to get a feel for the business climate in our region. The information that is gathered through the REBC’s efforts has a significant influence on public policy decisions.
