The Birmingham Business Alliance is surveying its backers to determine how hard they were hit by last week's devastating storms, and -- no surprise -- early results show that the impact is widespread.
In an email sent to its investors, the BBA said early survey results show that 20 percent have been affected in some way by the storm. Of those affected, 65 percent were waiting to have utilities repaired, and 100 percent were in touch with a disaster relief agency.
The BBA is providing free to its members a daily report listing public requests for proposals, so members can have a better chance to bid on business associated with the rebuilding effort.
Also, in cooperation with area chambers of commerce, BBA is maintaining a disaster relief Web page that includes information on how to volunteer or donate.
