Chilton County is metropolitan Birmingham’s southern-most county. The county is located between the population centers of Birmingham and Montgomery.
More than 10 percent of Chilton County’s workforce commutes to metropolitan Montgomery for employment. Likewise, upwards of 35 percent of the county’s workforce commutes to Jefferson and Shelby Counties – the two primary counties of metropolitan Birmingham.
Employment opportunities in Chilton County have increased 14 percent between 2010 and 2016 - twice as fast as the employment growth for metropolitan Birmingham. Companies that have recently expanded in the county includes Johnson Controls, Kumi Manufacturing and Merchants Foodservice. Between 2010 and 2015, Chilton County experienced a 19.3 percent increase in bachelor degree attainment, which is the highest percentage increase among metropolitan Birmingham’s seven counties and more than six percentage points higher than the U.S. increase of 13 percent.

Chilton County Peach Festival Join in as Chilton County celebrates Alabama peaches. Pageants and tournaments are held throughout the week, along with the “peach run,” art exhibitions, a cook-off, fishing tournament, live music, parades, live and silent auctions, barbecue and much more.
