Rachel Burchfield serves as the Communications Specialist for the Birmingham Business Alliance. In this role, Rachel is tasked with continually telling the story of the BBA and Birmingham through writing content for the BBA’s weekly e-newsletter, its monthly economic development newsletter and its blog; managing and writing content for the BBA’s four social media platforms and maintaining the BBA’s Digital Ambassadors program; and writing press releases and media advisories to distribute to local media outlets.
Rachel is a graduate of the William Allen White School of Journalism and Mass Communications at the University of Kansas and also has a master’s degree in higher education administration from the University of Mississippi. After an eight-year career in higher education and a successful freelance writing career, Rachel decided to become a writer full-time and joined the BBA team in 2017.
Rachel is an active member of the Junior League of Birmingham, where she has served as the assistant editor of both the JLB’s monthly newsletter, Between the Lines, and its annual magazine, Newsheet. She is currently the co-chair of JLB’s Leadership Institute, is an executive board member for Birmingham Alumnae Panhellenic and is active in her church. In her spare time, she is a contributor for a handful of lifestyle magazines across the Southeast and publishes two blogs, one of which is about the British Royal Family.
