The Birmingham Business Alliance is taking The Magic City to Greenville, South Carolina for its annual Leadership Exchange Aug. 24-26, 2025!
The Leadership Exchange trip is another step forward in continuing the revitalization and economic development of the Greater Birmingham Region! The BBA is pleased to spearhead this effort by bringing together our business leaders and government and elected officials throughout the region to discuss additional avenues of economic success.
In the past, these trips have sparked transformative ideas and collaborations that have directly contributed to Birmingham's growth. Landmark projects like Railroad Park and Regions Field both originated from previous trips to Denver, Co., and Pittsburgh, Pa., respectively. These developments gave new life to our city and created gathering spaces that will continue to pay dividends for generations to come.
This year, we're excited to explore Greenville, SC. We'll learn about their diverse economy, strong talent pipelines, regional collaboration, partnerships and more.
Why Greenville?

Strong Economies are Regional Economies.
Diversification, infrastructure, workforce, innovation, quality of life, governance and access to resources are the key pillars to thriving regional economy. We hope that you can join us in our journey to making our region stronger through unified collaboration.
The first step starts here. By joining us for Leadership Exchange, you'll not only be learning from a thriving city but you will also be able to have one-on-one conversations with business leaders and public officials from across the Birmingham Region.

What Previous Participants Have Said About Leadership Exchange:
"The BBA Leadership Exchange allows participants the unique opportunity to hear and see firsthand the best practices that are being utilized and implemented in other communities throughout the country. Throughout the program we were reminded that our challenges are not unique to our region and our future potential is only limited by the extent we are willing to creatively collaborate, innovate, and embrace new ideas and solutions, drawing on the collective strengths and perspectives of our diverse community." - City of Hoover City Council President John Lyda
"I found great value in learning from leaders of Raleigh and other cities in this dynamic area of our country. I also found great value in traveling to this destination with other regional business and government leaders so that we could collectively share in the knowledge gathering process. I would highly recommend other regional business and government leaders participating in future such trips so that we can work together to make our area better and stronger." - City of Hoover Economic Development Manager Greg Knighton
“The Leadership Exchange was an incredibly valuable experience not only to learn what Raleigh is doing to grow their economy inclusively but to do it together with so many terrific regional leaders. It is clear to me that if we had been doing consistent Leadership Exchanges over the last ten plus years, we would be an even better region. I can only hope that the BBA continues to organize these trips and more organizations choose to participate.” - Prosper President J.W. Carpenter
