McLeod Software opened its national headquarters in Hoover Tuesday, an investment of approximately $21 million dollars.
The transportation and logistics software company’s headquarters is located in Meadow Brook Corporate Park and houses its 388 current Alabama employees, with room for growth.
McLeod projects employment in Hoover to grow to 700 by 2022. The company is the largest employer of software developers in the Birmingham-Hoover metro area.
“I am a huge advocate of the information technology industry growing in Alabama,” said Tom McLeod, president of McLeod Software. “I am proud to call Hoover and Shelby County home of McLeod Software and would like to see the IT industry grow further in this immediate area.”
McLeod, Hoover Mayor Frank Brocato, Shelby County Manager Alex Dudchock and Alabama Secretary of Commerce Greg Canfield all gave remarks at the grand opening.
“McLeod Software’s selection of Meadow Brook for its headquarters greatly strengthens our goal to be a location of choice for technology companies considering suburban locations,” Dudchock said. “Shelby County will continue to invest in infrastructure and quality of life amenities to support economic development and maintain our ranking as the number one county to live and raise a family. Our county’s number one asset is our people and McLeod significantly impacts our base of technology talent.”
With an established base of more than 950 active customers throughout North America, McLeod Software operates regional offices with training facilities in Salt Lake City and Chicago, but Hoover will serve as its headquarters.
“As Alabama's sixth largest city, Hoover is an economic engine for the state of Alabama,” Brocato said. “Hoover is home to many high technology companies and is very proud to have McLeod Software to call Hoover home.”
The Birmingham Business Alliance worked with the Alabama Department of Commerce and 58 Inc., Shelby County’s economic development entity, to bring this project to fruition.
