BBA President & CEO Steve Ammons Honored as A Birmingham Business Journal Top CEO for 2025
The Birmingham Business Alliance (BBA) is proud to announce that President & CEO Steve Ammons has been recognized as one of the Birmingham Business Journal’s Top CEOs for 2025. This honor highlights leaders who demonstrate exceptional vision, integrity and impact across the region.
As part of the recognition, Steve shared insights with the BBJ on his leadership philosophy, personal journey and the future he sees for the Birmingham region:
Most pivotal moment of his career:
“Being named CEO of BBA, knowing what it should be, can be and will be.”
An interesting fact not many know:
“I’m adopted.”
If he were CEO of the Greater Birmingham region:
“I’d focus on uniting our cities and counties around one regional vision for growth. We already function as a regional economy, but our structures don’t reflect that reality. I’d align economic development, workforce and small business efforts under one coordinated plan, increase site readiness and make doing business simpler and faster. By working together as one region we can compete more effectively, attract more investment and create shared prosperity.”
What he sees on the horizon for 2026:
“I see our work becoming even more regional, data-driven and partnership-focused. Strong economies are regional economies, and the Birmingham region, which makes up a third of Alabama’s economy, has to lead the way. For BBA, that means executing our regional strategy, and focusing on site development, workforce alignment and small business growth.”
Steve’s accolade reinforces the BBA’s role as a regional catalyst, demonstrating his dedication to advancing a coordinated strategy for growth and opportunity across Birmingham.
