Business Alabama | Heman Drummond Center of Innovation Holds Groundbreaking, Highlighted by Governor Ivey as “The Best Example of Career Tech in Alabama”

The groundbreaking ceremony for the Heman Drummond Center of Innovation was held in Jasper, Alabama in May of 2025. This $80 million, first-of-its-kind educational facility will open in Fall 2026 and serve over 2,100 students annually, clearly redefining the future of education and workforce development for high school students throughout Alabama. 

Built by the Walker Area Community Foundation and later transferred to the Walker County School System, HDCI will provide cutting-edge training in fields like IT, robotics, healthcare, automotive and construction.
